Emergency Contraception (EC)
The Emergency Contraceptive (morning after pill) should be taken within 5 days (120 hours) of having unprotected sex. However, the sooner it is taken, the more effective it is. You may get it (office hours) from Campus Health or buy it from Pharmacies (after hours). EC pills should not be used as an ongoing regular birth control method. The EC method work to prevent ovulation, fertilization or implantation. If a woman is already pregnant, meaning that a fertilized egg has implanted in the uterus, EC will not work and does not cause an abortion.
